Meet Anjana
From Danville, California to Syracuse, New York - Anjana is a senior at Syracuse University majoring in Broadcast and Digital Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and Policy Studies at the Maxwell School of Public Affairs and Citizenship.
During her time at Newhouse, Anjana has developed a passion for human rights reporting. Being in Syracuse, she's covered city issues such as gun violence, their housing crisis, and racial displacement.
Anjana's reporting for Citrus TV and NCC News has helped her develop a strong foundation in writing, researching, and storytelling.
Reporting in Washington, D.C. -
Anjana decided to take a semester at the nations capital. She was an intern by day at DC News Now - and student by night. She was able to experience and report on President Trump's 2025 inauguration, the People's March, federal worker firings, and the Education Department shutdowns.
Reporting in her home town -
A full circle moment, Anjana had to opportunity to intern at NBC Bay Area's Investigative Unit. Here, she learned skills for more in-depth reporting. She covered a variety of immigration issues such as judge firings and ICE raids and protests.
Going international -
Anjana had the privilege of traveling to Okinawa, Japan, where she investigated the challenges faced by local residents due to the presence of U.S. military bases on their land. She produced a mini documentary capturing her observations and interviews with affected individuals. This project significantly deepened her commitment to reporting on social issues and highlighting community voices.
Looking ahead, Anjana aims to leverage these experiences and her passion to build a career dedicated to reporting on stories that matter around the nation and world. She's excited to continue exploring and contributing to this field, and eager to see where this journey takes her.
